The Idaho Rural Health Association named the opioid epidemic of its top priority issues. The use of prescription opioids quadrupled between 1999 and 2013, with over 2 million Americans abusing or dependent in 2014. By 2015 the U.S. saw 33,000 deaths - nearly half from prescription opioids. Idaho recently was awarded a CDC Opioid Epidemic Grant to to provide training and resources for pharmacists, physicians and first responders.

Members - please use the "reply" button to post a response. We'd be very interested in what IRHA members are doing in their offices, departments, clinics, hospitals or professions to screen, refer or treat people with opioid use disorder. Or would like to do, with adequate funding. IRHA may be able to help with grant requests!
